This is the story of how Cassandra and Nicolas met! ⚽️ It all started back in 2018, when Nicolas was asked to come play as a substitute for his friend Ben's co-ed soccer team... He had no idea what he was getting himself into. Cassy was already a longtime player, and good friends with Ben, and took notice of Nicolas immediately. It wasn't long after that Cassy and Nicolas began to stay late after the soccer games to chat in the parking lot at Boyle Street Plaza (yes, a very safe place to hang out at night). After one too many a cold night, they exchanged numbers to continue chatting. Nicolas, after a hectic weekend right before Christmas, asked Cassy if she would like to meet up to "hang out" at Remedy. She accepted, and even though he was incredibly sick and probably should not have been around anyone at all, he still went along to see her. She was incredibly polite and didn't even mention that he was late for their hang-out. Maybe she really DID like him! From that point forward, the hang-outs became more and more frequent, from walking around the legislature to see the Christmas lights, to dinners at Belgravia Hub, to building gingerbread houses together around Christmas. At one point, these hang-outs were even upgraded to full-on dates, and the rest is history. The two joined each other's co-ed soccer teams, went to cheer each other on at their men's and women's team games. Eventually, Cassy convinced Nicolas that living together would be so much easier than driving back and forth to each other's houses. They found a place to rent, and a few years later, they bought a house in The Orchards together. At this point, talks of marriage were well underway. This leads to...
The time had come to propose. The weekend in Jasper had been booked. The ring had arrived from the online vendor. ... And the ring looked *bad*. Nicolas decided stupidly that he didn't like the ring. And if he didn't like it, Cassy wouldn't either. With under a month before their trip to Jasper where HE PLANNED TO PROPOSE, Nicolas went out in search of another ring. And he found it! A simple and beautiful ring he knew she would like. He was even promised that the ring would be finished and arrive in Edmonton the day before they were to drive to Jasper. It was close, but he knew this was the right one, so he had the store order it and waited for it to be ready. ... Except, it wasn't ready. The day he was to pick it up, Nicolas was contacted to say it would be late... arriving the day AFTER they left for Jasper. After many a panicked call to see if there was ANY way for it to be rushed or sent to Jasper instead, the store promised to courier it to their hotel the day after it arrived in Edmonton. Left with no choice, Nicolas and Cassy left to Jasper where he was planning on proposing to her, without any ring. After a few days of planned activities with conveniently shaped pauses and places for proposal, the couple returned to their hotel room where Nicolas FINALLY heard that the ring had arrived. He snuck it into his jacket, and waited for the next day, where he suggested the two of them head for a walk around Pyramid Lake Island. They went for their walk, and after a brief moment to pause and admire the first snowfall they'd seen during their trip, Nicolas got down on one knee. to propose... And she said yes!
